Pre Trip Inspection – Part 1 of 2

This is my version of the pre-trip inspection, preparing for the CDL test. There was only one part that i know i missed, which is the steering box and hoses, however, i got it down perfect when i actually went to test, scoring a 108. hoorah!

@jjmbarry1 There were a few things that would fail you depending on the place/state. He did not do a proper air compressor cut in and cut out test. Did not check the bunk door, and did not check the shifter for excess play and that the shifter boot was secure and nothing going to fall on the floor. Most of the CDL test is s+++that never needs done. You can see it and the written s=== about how much alcohol -do you really need to know that? 90% bull.

before you put a durex on your nob, do you check it for “no damage ,no possible leakage” after all hows are a mennace to truckers, :)

He did not miss passenger side leaf suspension section. At C1 and Arkansas DMV when you finish driver side around back of trailer you then say “I’d inspect passenger side the same way as driver side” as long as you did driver side correctly they assume you’d do passenger side correctly. So since you talk about frame and suspension on driver side you would check on passenger on way back up. It’s a time saver at DMV is all. They remind us to ad nausium to check both sides in real world.

On the passenger side you forgot the Leaf spring holder, Leaf spring, U-bolts and Nuts, Sock Absorber, Inner& outer rim, Brake drum, Slack adjuster, brake chamber, hoses, hub seals lug nuts…. ok enough said.

dude, I’m no ghost freak or anything but check 2:12-2:14 there is some kinda weird light that zooms out and shoots at the camera? Looks like what they call an energy ball or something like that? if you pause on 2:14 you can see it clearly. maybe a bug but it don’t look like a bug,

this is just what i needed. it was clear and to the point. so easy for me to get into a rhythm with it so i could pass the test! SC wants to hear all that repetition and i will be able to follow it all the way around the truck and get through it with flying colors. thanks thanks for your time and effort on this! me and my boyfriend will be travelling around the country soon!!!

I’ve gotten my class A CDL license Back in December of 2010 and now have a hazmat and tanker endorcement but how do I get on the job when all the carriers require years of driving experience? what company that doesn’t require years of experiences and accept graduate drivers?

i have had my class a permit for about 2 months now, i was teaching myself with the truck at work no help from anyone but the cdl manual.i had to learn all the parts of the truck myself. then i found this video about 4 days. with my knowledge and this video you made i scored a 106 on my trip test today. 100% on skills test and a 96 on the road test. thanks for this video, it helped me explain more clearly.

  • kokopellifilmz says:

@betterintheory I think you did a great job. So what if no one is perfect. I think it was great that you took the time to shoot the video in the first place and shared the experience and your version of the pre-trip inspection. You were confident and actually quite knowledgeable about your truck. Thank you for sharing. I invite any of your critics to do a better job and shoot their own version for everyone else to critique. You have my thumbs up!

im currently going to school here. some of the equipment may be a lil rough but what do you expect with a bunch of entry level drivers, some of which have never handled a trailer much less a manual transmission. all and all good school so far i take my state test in a few days. see you on the road.
